Born in 1971 in South Korea, he first started by working on short films. He wrote and directed his first feature, film noir Man of Vendetta, in 2010. In 2015, his third film, political thriller Inside Men, won several awards and was very successful at the South Korean box-office with more than 5,7 million admissions. The Man Standing Next, based on true events, is his fifth feature film.
